Animal Control to host Empty the Shelters Adoption Event
Macomb County Animal Control will participate in the BISSELL Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters Adoption Event this Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. All pet adoptions during that period will be sponsored by BISSELL with the hope of making a significant impact on the homeless pet population here in Macomb.
"We have a variety of animals here that simply need a loving home," said Macomb County Animal Control Chief Jeff Randazzo. "Empty the Shelters Day is a wonderful way to help us make that connection. With fees sponsored by BISSELL, we can open the door for many individuals that want to adopt and find a companion."
A wide selection of dogs, cats, kittens and rabbits will be available for adoption at Macomb County Animal Control (21417 Dunham Road, Clinton Township, MI). To ensure a proper match, officials are asking that all family members in the home, including children and dog(s), be present at the time of adoption. Please keep dog(s) restrained/confined outside of the adoption area until a staff member can assist with a proper introduction. For those who do not own their home, proof of a rental/lease agreement with a pet addendum is required to finalize the adoption.
The BISSELL Pet Foundation has hosted Empty the Shelters Day since 2006. In 2017, the event was held in 17 states and saw 3,135 animals find forever homes. All told, Empty the Shelters and BISSELL has sponsored 13,624 adoptions across the country.
